Sara Horst graduated from Old Dominion University in 2007 with a Master of Education with licensure to teach Prek through grade 6. After spending 5 years in the classroom teaching 4th and 5th grade students at Linville-Edom Elementary School and Ottobine Elementary School, she accepted a TLC position at Ottobine Elementary School where she works as a Reading Specialist with students in grades 3-5 in reading and math. She completed her Master of Reading degree in December of 2015 from JMU and is licensed as a Reading Specialist for students in PreK-12. Sara is also an adjunct professor at James Madison University (JMU) and teaches READ 366, an early literacy course for preservice teachers.
She lives in the Ottobine area with her husband of 14 years and their three children on their farm. They attend a local church where they are both active members. She enjoys reading, gardening, and being active with her children. Sara is passionate about early literacy and the role of parents in literacy development.
